The Trans-Atlantic region has a large potential for innovation due to the common maritime challenges and diverse skilled societies dealing with these challenges. The full innovation potential can however only be exploited in a collaborative effort throughout the area.
There is a need of coordination between Europe, Russia and North America in the North Atlantic and the Arctic with regard to marine climate and resource research and innovation of sustainable technological solutions.
Research institutions and the industry need easier access to each other.
The industry needs sustainable technologies that reduce energy consumption and negative impact on the marine environment. The research institutions need capital and feedback from the industry to undertake the needed research.
A collaboration of Scientists, Industry and NGO stakeholders is needed to identify solutions and the factors driving decision-making, implementation, monitoring, control and audit for maritime ecosystem approaches.
